In BergaFat, Berg+Schmidt already has a well-known rumen bypass fat powder in its portfolio that is used successfully around the world.
Through the takeover the Hamburg company intends to place its business activities on a wider footing in other European markets besides Germany.
The old-established Juchem brand “Energie 100” was part of the product portfolio of Franz Juchem GmbH. With effect from 1 August 2011 the
Juchem Gruppe has transferred its business with the rumen bypass fat powder under the brand name “Energie 100” to Berg+Schmidt GmbH & Co. KG in
Hamburg.
For many years Berg+Schmidt has produced rumen-stable fat powders at its own plants in Malaysia, and it is one of the world’s pioneers in the
development of lecithinized fat powder qualities without a carrier for monogastric animals as well as cattle. Managing Director Andreas
Reith is convinced that “this is an important step that will strengthen our core business in fat powders. The clienteles of our two companies
complement each other extremely well. We shall go on extending our competence in this field”.
The owner-managed company Berg+Schmidt GmbH und Co. KG, Hamburg, has been operating in the field of feed fats and other feed ingredients for over 50 years.
It offers the feed industry around the world vital vegetable substances for profitable and healthy animal nutrition. Besides fat powders the company produces
deoiled lecithin as an aid to metabolism and conjugated linoleic acids (CLAs) to optimize the metabolism of fat.
Berg+Schmidt is a member of the Stern-Wywiol Gruppe, an independent, dynamic group of companies operating internationally in the field of ingredients for food and
feed. So like Franz Juchem, Berg+Schmidt is part of a larger, family-managed network of firms with similar principles.
